Photovoltaic system

We design and supply PV systems for overseas markets only. Photovoltaic systems (PV) directly generate electricity from solar radiation. These systems operate without any moving parts, without noise and without emission of any pollutants, making them a clean and hassle-free technology that’s ideally suited for small-scale distributed installations. Equipped with a battery bank (in so-called isolated systems), PV systems can even completely cover the electricity demand of a given installation - even housing around the clock!.

Since PV modules are harvesting both direct and diffuse sunlight, PV systems are not restricted to regions with an extremely high volume of sunshine hours (such as Spain), but are also very viable in parts of the world with fewer sunshine and more cloud cover, e.g. in the tropics.

Grid-Connected Systems

For several years, SHP Europe has installed grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems both in Europe and in our local area.

In our home town Mülheim an der Ruhr, we were engaged in the Agenda 21 Process for Climate Protection. In this context we had installed the first PV system on a public school in Mülheim purely funded by private citizens.

Island system

The design of island photovoltaic (PV) systems is complex and requires know how and expertise. By definition, island systems are stand-alone photovoltaic systems without any connection to an electrical grid. They vary from grid-connected systems in that the plant must be specifically designed to react safely to different load requirements in order to deliver the requested electricity.

SHP Europe pays attention to the load pattern for the current and future energy demands. We run our calculations not only with respect to the total demand per time unit, but also with high regard to load peaks and their occurrence against the solar energy supply.

SHP Europe investigates, calculates and runs simulations in order to get the system that is the optimal technical and economical solution. SHP Europe designs systems with or without battery banks, with or without AC converters, with or without backup via a motor-operated generator or wind turbine.

SHP Europe believes in integrated solutions. Therefore, the first thing we do is to consult with you regarding ways that the electricity demand can be reduced for your island grid. This consultation allows us to design and implement a system that’s smaller, cheaper and generally more efficient for our clients’ needs. (For example: the exchange of a lighting system or the replacement of an older refrigerator with a more efficient model could realise massive economic benefits both now and in the future.)

In 2009 SHP Europe had funded and installed a small PV island grid installation in an AIDS orphant school in Kabwe, Sambia as a small sign of our commitment to support sustainable development also for the poorest.
